In the Art of War, Sun Tzu stated that the peak efficiency of knowledge and strategy is to make conflict altogether unnecessary. "To overcome others without fighting is the best of skills" Sun Tzu showed how understanding conflict can lead not only to its resolution, but even to its avoidance altogether.
By analysing the political, psychological and material factors involved in conflict, Sun Tzu's aim was not to encourage warfare but to minimise and curtail it. Much of Sun Tzu's philosophy can also be applied to business relationships whether they be related to selling, marketing, project management or stakeholder management.
